During my senior year of high school, I created a second independent study to profile people in poverty in various states in India. My goal was to replace the vague concept of "poverty" in people's minds with real people and their stories. In January 2017, I will travel within India for three weeks, conducting interviews with people in slums and touring NGOs that are helping different types of people in poverty. My mentor is world-renowned human rights activist Jack Healey, founder of the Human Rights Action Center and former Executive Director of Amnesty International.
Here is a link to my blog, as well as pictures and videos of the people I profiled and the NGOs I visited during my trip.
